Innovation
At Renew, we recognise that many individuals and families do not receive the necessary funding to develop and implement a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plan. In response to this issue, our Principal Behaviour Support Practitioner, Michelle Toombs, developed an innovative behaviour assessment report that has become a standard practice in the industry.

Our behaviour assessment report is a comprehensive tool that enables us to gather essential information about an individual's behaviour and develop a personalised report with recommendations that addresses their specific needs. This innovative approach is highly effective in securing NDIS funding to support individuals and families achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
Process
Our Behaviour Assessment Report is a process undertaken by one of our highly trained and experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners. The practitioner will assess the individual's challenging behaviour and develop a detailed report for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This report can be used to access funding for a personalised PBS plan, if necessary.
Customisation
At Renew, our Behaviour Assessment Report is a highly personalised tool that is tailored to the unique needs and circumstances of each individual. Our team of experienced and skilled professionals, who work in this field every day, bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the assessment process. Innovation
In recognition of the limitations of traditional psychology approaches for certain individuals, our Principle Behaviour Support Practitioner, Michelle Toombs, developed the Behavioural Therapy and Counselling model.

This model is designed specifically for individuals who struggle with emotional regulation, anxiety, angry outbursts, and a lack of insight and understanding of their disability and how it impacts their day-to-day life. Our Behavioural Therapy and Counselling model offers a holistic approach that combines evidence-based behavioural therapy techniques with counselling support.

Our highly trained and experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners work closely with individuals and families to develop a personalised therapy and counselling plan that addresses their unique needs and goals. We use a variety of evidence-based strategies, including cognitive-behavioural therapy and mindfulness techniques, to help individuals develop emotional regulation skills, improve their understanding of their disability, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Building Capacity
At Renew, we understand that every individual is unique, and we are committed to providing personalised support that meets their specific needs. Our Behavioural Therapy and Counselling model is a one-on-one approach that is designed to build the individual's capacity to better manage their behaviour, triggers, and emotions.

Our highly trained and experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners work closely with each individual to develop a personalised therapy plan that is tailored to their unique needs and goals. We use evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including music and art therapy, play-based capacity building, Collaborative and Proactive Solutions, and Applied Behaviour Analysis methodology.

Our practitioners work collaboratively with an individual's support network, including family members, support staff, and other relevant team members, to ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goals.

What’s the difference between a psychologist and a behaviour support practitioner?
A psychologist is a licensed mental health professional who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders using a range of therapeutic interventions.

A Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, on the other hand, is a professional who utilises evidence-based approaches to reduce or eliminate challenging behaviours in individuals with disabilities.

While both professionals may work with individuals with disabilities, their areas of focus and approaches to treatment differ significantly. Psychologists address a wide range of mental health concerns, while Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners focus specifically on behaviour management and develop personalised plans tailored to each individual’s specific needs.
